Newcastle United has announced that striker Callum Wilson will be sidelined for the start of the 2024-2025 Premier League season due to an injury. The club confirmed that Wilson, one of their key attacking players, is recovering from a significant setback sustained during pre-season training.

The 31-year-old forward is expected to be out of action for approximately six to eight weeks, which means he will miss Newcastle’s opening fixtures, including the highly anticipated match against Manchester United. The injury comes as a blow to the Magpies, who were hoping to build on their impressive campaign last year and mount a strong challenge in both domestic and European competitions.

“Callum’s injury is unfortunate, but we are working closely with our medical team to ensure he returns to full fitness as soon as possible,” said Newcastle manager Eddie Howe. “In the meantime, we have confidence in the depth of our squad and believe other players will step up in Callum’s absence.”

Wilson’s absence places additional pressure on Newcastle’s attacking lineup. However, the club has several promising forwards who will likely be called upon to fill the void, including new signing Rodrigo Rivas and experienced striker Alexander Isak.

Fans and analysts will be keeping a close eye on how Newcastle adapts to Wilson’s absence and whether the team can maintain their momentum without their star striker. Meanwhile, Wilson will be focused on his rehabilitation, aiming to return to action as quickly and as strongly as possible.

The Magpies’ next match against Brighton & Hove Albion will be a critical test of their ability to cope with the early season challenges.
