UKFundraising reports that music legend Mark Knopfler, the renowned frontman of Dire Straits, has donated a limited edition, signed guitar to support Nordoff And Robbins.

The Boswell 0-14MK/TR-LTD, one of only 24 in existence, has been contributed with the goal of raising £20,000 for the charity’s music therapy services.

Tickets for a chance to win the guitar are available on Crowdfunder, priced at £5 for one entry or £10 for three, with all proceeds benefiting Nordoff And Robbins. The prize draw ends on Wednesday, August 14.

The guitar comes with an authentication certificate signed by Knopfler, luthier Butch Boswell, and Rudy Pensa of Rudy’s Music NYC, along with a signed box set of Knopfler’s latest album, One Deep River.

Knopfler, a long-time supporter of Nordoff And Robbins, performed at their 1990 Knebworth charity concert alongside Paul McCartney, Genesis, Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd, Elton John, Robert Plant, and Jimmy Page. Proceeds from the concert funded the creation of a new music therapy center in Kentish Town, North London, which now serves as the charity’s headquarters.

At this year’s Nordoff and Robbins O2 Silver Clef Awards, Knopfler received the American Express Music Icon award, presented to him by his long-time friend, Brian Johnson of AC/DC.
