With most of the starters back from a team that won the Big Ten title, and the addition of a past Big Ten player of the year, the Nebraska volleyball team is picked as the No. 1 team in the Big Ten preseason poll in the now 18-team league.
Nebraska returns 10 players from last season while adding one of the top transfers in the nation in 6-foot-5 outside hitter Taylor Landfair, the Big Ten player of the year in 2022 while at Minnesota. Nebraska also gets back Lindsay Krause, who was on pace for an All-American season before an injury.
Nebraska had a 33-2 record last season with a national runner-up finish.
The top eight teams in the poll, as voted on by league coaches, are Nebraska, Wisconsin, Penn State, Purdue, Minnesota, Oregon, Southern California and UCLA.
Wisconsin also made the NCAA Final Four last season and has national player of the year Sarah Franklin.
