The Rabbitohs have been forced into a change for Saturday’s game.
The South Sydney Rabbitohs’ injury troubles continue into the final weeks of the season, with Cody Walker set to miss their Round 22 match against the Cronulla Sharks.
Walker apparently suffered a calf injury, the severity of which is unknown, and will miss the trip to the Shire.
Dion Teaupa, who was named as a reserve on Tuesday, will replace him.
Walker’s calf injury is unlikely to be a one-week issue, as even minor strains to calves frequently necessitate at least two or three weeks on the sidelines.
With six weeks remaining in the 2024 NRL season, there is no indication that South Sydney will be without Walker. Additionally, star fullback Latrell Mitchell is expected to return before the season ends.
South Sydney has experienced an injury crisis in the halves this season, with both Lachlan Ilias and Dean Hawkins on the sidelines. Walker has played 17 games, missing a few.
The Rabbitohs, led by interim head coach Ben Hornby, have only won seven games this season and will need to win all six to qualify for the finals.
The Sharks have struggled recently and will be without Nicho Hynes until the end of the regular season. They are still in contention for a top four finish.
