D’Onta Foreman’s last year playing college football was marked by more than just his athletic prowess; it was deeply personal and emotionally charged. In an exclusive interview with NFL Network’s Andrea Kremer on NFL Total Access, Foreman opened up for the first time about the profound pain he experienced following the death of his infant son. This tragic loss became a driving force behind his exceptional junior season with the Texas Longhorns.

Considered one of the top running backs in the upcoming NFL draft, Foreman shared the joy he felt when his son, D’Onta Foreman Jr., was born prematurely in September. Initially, doctors assured Foreman and his girlfriend that their baby would recover and be healthy. Sadly, the infant developed an infection and passed away less than two months later.

Reflecting on this devastating loss, Foreman told Kremer, “I really didn’t know how to feel. I was like numb. I felt like something was taken away from me before I had a chance to experience it.”

Despite the heartache, Foreman channeled his grief into his performance on the field, honoring his son’s memory through his play. Now, as he prepares for the next chapter in his life and career, he finds solace and motivation in what lies ahead. Adding to this hope, Foreman and his girlfriend are expecting their next child on September 16th, the anniversary of D’Onta Jr.’s birth.

This powerful narrative of loss and resilience underscores Foreman’s journey from college football star to NFL hopeful, reminding us of the profound personal stories that often accompany athletic success.
