The deal to bring Adam Idah to Celtic from Norwich City appears to be finally done and it will bring an end to a long summer of speculation.

We talked about how Celtic agreed to pay up to £9.5 million for the Republic of Ireland striker this morning, which might make this the club’s most expensive signing ever.

After Celtic made an enticing offer of £8.5 million up front, with a further £1 million in add-ons, Norwich agreed to a deal. This will cost more than Brendan Rodgers paid for Odsonne Edouard in 2018.

Now that the summer transfer crisis seems to be coming to an end, Chris Sutton has expressed his thoughts on the price Celtic ultimately agreed to pay for the 23-year-old.

Sutton has been outspoken on Celtic’s protracted summer negotiations with Norwich for Idah, and now that a deal has been reached, the former player for the Houston Rockets took to social media to share his thoughts on the development:

All parties concerned appear to be getting a nice bargain out of this.

After stating to Norwich this summer where he envisaged his future, Adam Idah receives the Celtic move he has been waiting for.

Norwich is receiving a substantial sum of money for a player who was not even close to being in their plans at the beginning of the New Year.

Regarding Celtic, they have now made an investment in a player with a promising future and, more significantly, they have publicly declared their support for Brendan Rodgers.

At the close of the previous season, the Celtics manager made it quite apparent that he wanted Idah. And the board has stepped up to make sure Rodgers receives the support he deserves after winning a double last season, given that Idah is expected to join the team permanently and might be Celtic’s most expensive signing ever.

The Celtic supporters will be hoping that additional business gets finished, and quickly, over the next several weeks, as further transfer work needs to be done before the window closes in September.
