Many were not pleased with Austin Dillon’s victory in Sunday’s race at Richmond Raceway, home of the NASCAR Cup Series.
On the last lap of the race, Dillon destroyed both Denny Hamlin and Joey Logano to earn his first victory of the year.
The situation worsened when, following the race, footage surfaced on social media showing Austin Dillon’s spotter urging him to “wreck him” while he was defeating Logano and Hamlin.
Joey Logano labeled Dillon a “piece of crap” and said that the way he won the race was “chicken s—” after the race.
After the manner Austin Dillon prevailed, Bubba Wallace declined to shake hands with him.
After the race, not only did Austin Dillon receive some nasty comments from 54-time winner Denny Hamlin, but he also expressed his disapproval of NASCAR. Dillon crashed while traveling to the checkered flag.
Bob, where’s the line? That is the matter at hand. Although we have laws to stop absurd behavior, Hamlin stated that it has been a while since those laws have been truly upheld. Was it not bullshit that Layne Riggs spun someone out and received a two-lap penalty? It’s difficult because young short track racers witness this and believe it to be acceptable since they watch Sunday’s professional racers, who are expected to act like grownups, behaving foolishly. It’s really incredible that it’s permitted.
“It’s okay, I don’t blame him for being so desperate?” Hamlin continued. He jumps 20 spots in points, or whatever, and is currently ranked thirty-first. It’s safe for him this season. Although there are consequences for this that he will have to pay later, in his opinion, it is well worth it because there are no guidelines or prohibitions against doing that. Furthermore, nobody in the tower is experiencing any issues with it. Since there is no true officiating in this sport, we will never, ever be taken seriously.
