**KANSAS CITY ROYALS COMMENTATORS ANNOUNCE RETIREMENT**

Kansas City, MO – After a combined 40 years of broadcasting Royals games, iconic commentators Denny Matthews and Steve Physioc have announced their retirement, effective immediately.

Matthews, 80, and Physioc, 69, have been the voice of the Royals since the early 1990s, bringing their unique blend of enthusiasm, knowledge, and humor to the airwaves. Their partnership has been a staple of Royals baseball, entertaining generations of fans with their play-by-play and color commentary.

“We’ve had an incredible run,” Matthews said in a joint statement. “We’ve been fortunate to be a part of so many memorable moments in Royals history, from the team’s World Series championships to the thrill of watching young stars emerge. It’s time for us to step aside and let the next generation of broadcasters take the reins.”

The duo’s retirement marks the end of an era for Royals broadcasting. They will be remembered for their iconic calls, including Matthews’ famous “The Kansas City Royals are going to win!” phrase after the team’s World Series victories in 1985 and 2015.
