In a blow to the Parramatta Eels’ upcoming NRL campaign, newly signed forward Kelma Tuilagi has been ruled out due to injury. The powerhouse back-rower, who recently joined the club ahead of the 2024 season, suffered an undisclosed injury during pre-season training, leaving Eels fans and coaching staff disappointed.

Tuilagi, who made the switch to Parramatta from the Wests Tigers in a highly anticipated signing, was expected to bolster the Eels’ forward pack with his dynamic running and solid defense. However, early indications suggest that he may be sidelined for several weeks, with the extent of his injury yet to be confirmed.

Eels head coach Brad Arthur expressed his frustration at the setback but remained optimistic about Tuilagi’s recovery. “It’s unfortunate to lose Kelma at this stage, but we’re focused on getting him back to full fitness as soon as possible. He’s a tough player, and I know he’ll come back stronger,” Arthur said.

Tuilagi’s absence is expected to open the door for other players to step up in the Eels’ forward rotation as they prepare for the start of the 2024 season. Fans will be eagerly awaiting updates on his recovery, with hopes that the new signing will still play a significant role in Parramatta’s push for premiership glory.

The club has not yet provided an official timeline for Tuilagi’s return, but his recovery will be closely monitored by the Eels’ medical team.

More updates to follow as the situation develops.
