MIAMI DOLPHINS MOURN THE PASSING OF LEGENDARY PLAYER, JIM LANGER
MIAMI, FLORIDA – The Miami Dolphins organization is in mourning today as it has been announced that legendary player, Jim Langer, has passed away at the age of 70.
Jim Langer, a Hall of Fame center, played for the Miami Dolphins from 1970 to 1981 and was a key member of the team’s dominant offense during his playing career. He was known for his exceptional blocking skills, toughness, and leadership on the field.
Born in 1950 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Langer began his NFL career with the Cleveland Browns before joining the Dolphins in 1970. He quickly became a fan favorite and earned the nickname “The Chief” for his leadership and dominance on the line.
During his time with the Dolphins, Langer helped the team win two Super Bowl championships (VII and VIII) and appeared in four AFC Championship Games. He was a five-time Pro Bowl selection and was named First-Team All-Pro twice.
Langer’s legacy will continue to be celebrated throughout the NFL. He will always be remembered as one of the greatest centers in Dolphins history.

The Dolphins will honor Langer’s memory with a tribute during Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots.
