TABLE TENNIS COMMUNITY MOURNS THE PASSING OF LEGENDARY PLAYER, WANG LIQIN
BEIJING, CHINA- The world of table tennis is in shock and mourning today as it has been announced that legendary player, Wang Liqin, has passed away at the age of 41.
Wang Liqin, also known as “The King of Defense,” was a dominant force in the sport, winning numerous titles and accolades throughout his career. He was a two-time Olympic champion, a four-time World Champion, and a 12-time World Cup winner.
Born in 1980 in Tianjin, China, Wang Liqin began playing table tennis at the age of 5. Wang Liqin’s most notable achievements include his two Olympic gold medals, won at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and the 2004 Athens Olympics. He also won four World Championship titles, in 1999, 2001, 2003, and 2005. In addition to his individual titles, Wang Liqin was part of several successful Chinese teams that won World Championship and World Cup titles.
