Fijian rugby has been dealt a major blow as top stars Setareki Tamanivalu and Jonah Lomu have been ruled out of their upcoming match due to injuries. Both players, known for their explosive power and game-changing abilities, are expected to miss critical fixtures, leaving a gap in the team’s lineup ahead of the much-anticipated clash.

Setareki Tamanivalu, a versatile back known for his agility and strength, reportedly sustained a muscle strain during training earlier this week. Initial assessments suggest he could be sidelined for at least two weeks, but team officials are monitoring his progress closely.

Meanwhile, Jonah Lomu, one of rugby’s most iconic figures, has been dealing with ongoing health issues. Lomu, who has a storied career and is revered for his legendary performances on the field, has been forced to withdraw from the match as he continues to manage his medical condition. Lomu, who battled a chronic kidney illness during his career, has been undergoing treatment and will need additional recovery time before returning to competitive play.

In a statement, the team’s coach expressed disappointment over the absence of both stars but remained optimistic: “Setareki and Jonah are integral to our game plan, and it’s unfortunate that they won’t be available for this match. However, their health comes first, and we are confident in the depth and talent of our squad to step up in their absence.”

Fans are understandably disappointed, as both Tamanivalu and Lomu have been key players in Fiji’s recent rugby success. The team will now have to adjust its strategy without two of its top performers, with younger players expected to fill their shoes.

Both stars are expected to undergo further medical evaluations in the coming days, with hopes that they can return to action as soon as possible.
