During the Connecticut Sun’s 93-69 victory against the Indiana Fever on Sunday in the WNBA playoffs, guard DiJonai Carrington poked her long fingernail into Caitlin Clark’s eye.
In the opening quarter, Carrington collided with Clark while attempting to intercept a ball from Clark. In slow motion video, Carrington was seen twisting her hand and pointing her nails at Clark’s face as she descended from the block attempt. During the play, no fouls were called.
Carrington told reporters on Tuesday that he had not tried to purposely cause Clark a black eye.
