In a shocking turn of events, Boston Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery collapsed on Thursday following complications from a recent surgery. Montgomery, who had undergone a minor medical procedure earlier in the week, reportedly suffered from post-surgery complications that led to his collapse.

The incident occurred during a team practice session at TD Garden, where players and staff quickly rushed to his aid. Montgomery was conscious and responsive when paramedics arrived, and he was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney released a statement expressing concern for Montgomery’s health but remained hopeful for a quick recovery.

“We are all deeply concerned for Jim right now. He’s an integral part of our team, and we are hopeful that he will recover fully. Our thoughts are with him and his family,” said Sweeney.

Players and staff members were visibly shaken by the incident, but the team resumed practice after Montgomery was taken to the hospital. Bruins captain Brad Marchand addressed the media following the practice.

“Coach means the world to us. He’s been a huge part of what we’ve been building here, and we’re all hoping for the best. Right now, our focus is on his health and supporting him in any way we can,” Marchand said.

The Bruins have yet to provide details on the nature of Montgomery’s surgery or the complications that led to his collapse. However, sources close to the team have indicated that the 54-year-old coach is in stable condition and undergoing further medical testing.

Montgomery has been at the helm of the Bruins since 2022, leading them to a franchise-record regular season in 2023. The organization and fans alike are anxiously awaiting updates on his condition, hoping for a swift and full recovery.

The Bruins are expected to release further information as Montgomery’s condition develops. In the meantime, assistant coaches will take over his duties while he recovers.
