The Golden State Warriors have added another piece to their roster puzzle, signing former New York Knicks forward Kevin Knox in a move designed to bolster their depth ahead of the 2024-25 NBA season. Knox, a former lottery pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, brings a mix of untapped potential and size to the Warriors, who are eyeing another championship run with their core of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green.
Knox, 6’7″ with a 7-foot wingspan, has shown flashes of scoring ability throughout his career, particularly during his rookie season with the Knicks, but consistency has been elusive. Since his time in New York, he’s bounced around with stints in Atlanta, Detroit, and most recently the Portland Trail Blazers. He’s known for his ability to stretch the floor as a shooter and for his athleticism, but his defense and all-around play remain areas for growth.
For the Warriors, this signing fits their need for a versatile forward who can contribute off the bench. Knox will likely compete for minutes with Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody, and other young talents, aiming to carve out a rotational role.
Warriors fans and the team’s coaching staff hope that the Golden State system, known for its player development, can help Knox unlock more of his potential, much like it has with other players in the past. If Knox can rediscover his offensive rhythm and improve his defense under Steve Kerr’s system, he could become a valuable contributor for the Warriors as they gear up for a competitive Western Conference.
While not expected to be a major signing, Knox’s addition provides the Warriors with added flexibility and depth, two crucial factors in a grueling 82-game season.
