The Miami Heat are coming off a season that fell short of their usual high standards. After finishing 8th in the Eastern Conference with a 46-36 record, their campaign was largely derailed by injuries to key players such as Jimmy Butler and midseason addition Terry Rozier. Without Butler and Rozier, Miami couldn’t overcome the Boston Celtics in the playoffs, leading to an earlier-than-expected exit.
However, with their core players now healthy and motivated, the Heat are poised to make another deep playoff push, a trademark of the franchise in recent years. Here’s a detailed look at their projected starting lineup and key reserves for the 2024-25 season.
Point Guard (PG)
Starter: Terry Rozier
Reserves: Josh Richardson, Alec Burks, Zyon Pullin
Terry Rozier, who was acquired during the trade deadline last season, provided a much-needed scoring boost, averaging 16.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game. Despite his contributions, Rozier missed the playoffs due to injury, a major blow to the team’s offense. Now healthy, Rozier is set to play a crucial role in Miami’s backcourt alongside Tyler Herro. Josh Richardson returns as a versatile defender, with Alec Burks adding veteran experience and shooting, while Zyon Pullin brings youthful depth to the position.
Shooting Guard (SG)
Starter: Tyler Herro
Reserves: Duncan Robinson, Nassir Little, Josh Christopher
Tyler Herro’s absence was felt last season as he missed 40 games due to injury. When on the floor, Herro was a reliable scorer, averaging 20.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game while shooting 39.6% from beyond the arc. If healthy, Herro will be pivotal in Miami’s offensive strategy with his ability to space the floor and create shots. Off the bench, Duncan Robinson remains a three-point threat, while Nassir Little and Josh Christopher offer athleticism and scoring versatility.
