Legendary singer-songwriter Neil Diamond has filed for divorce from his second wife, Katie McNeil, bringing their 12-year marriage to an end. The split comes after Diamond was previously married to his first wife, high school sweetheart Jaye Posner, with whom he shares two daughters.
Diamond, 83, and McNeil tied the knot in 2012 after a whirlwind romance that began when McNeil was his manager. Throughout their marriage, she supported him through various career milestones, including his 2018 retirement from touring due to Parkinson’s disease. Despite McNeil’s role in his later career, sources close to the couple have confirmed that they have amicably decided to part ways.
This is Diamond’s third time facing divorce, having also previously been married to production assistant Marcia Murphey, with whom he had two sons. Diamond’s latest marriage breakdown comes as a surprise to many of his fans, who saw McNeil as a significant pillar of support during his later years in the industry.
Neil Diamond’s music legacy spans over five decades, with timeless hits such as “Sweet Caroline,” “Cracklin’ Rosie,” and “Song Sung Blue.” As he navigates another personal change, the world continues to hold him in high regard for his musical contributions.
