Breaking News: General Manager of Dallas Cowboys Sack Running Back Ezekiel Elliott

In a significant roster move, the Dallas Cowboys have parted ways with veteran running back Ezekiel Elliott, citing declining performance and salary cap considerations as the main reasons behind the decision. Cowboys general manager Jerry Jones announced the release of Elliott, marking the end of an era for the team and one of the NFL’s most recognizable running backs.

Elliott, who was drafted by the Cowboys in 2016 and quickly became one of the league’s top rushers, has seen his production dip in recent seasons due to injuries and a reduced role in the offense. Despite remaining a key figure in the Cowboys’ locker room, the front office had grown increasingly concerned about Elliott’s hefty contract and diminishing on-field impact.

Jones issued a statement explaining the decision: “Zeke has been an important part of our organization for years, and this was not an easy decision. However, we have to make tough choices in the best interest of our team’s future.”

The Cowboys are now looking to shift their focus to younger talent at the running back position, with Tony Pollard having emerged as the team’s primary back in recent years. Elliott’s departure, though expected by some, still shocked many fans who saw him as a cornerstone of the franchise for much of the last decade.

As one of the NFL’s highest-paid running backs, Elliott’s contract had become a burden under the salary cap, and the Cowboys felt it was time to move on to create more financial flexibility. While Elliott’s future in the NFL remains uncertain, he is expected to attract interest from other teams seeking a veteran presence in the backfield.
