The New York Jets have officially sacked head coach Robert Saleh after a disappointing stretch in the 2024 NFL season, citing poor team performance and lack of progress in key areas as reasons for the decision. Despite entering the season with high hopes following an aggressive offseason and the acquisition of veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the Jets have struggled to find consistency, leading to growing frustration within the organization.
Jets owner Woody Johnson and general manager Joe Douglas released a statement explaining that the move was necessary to “reignite the team’s competitive spirit” and that they are committed to finding a new leader who can elevate the franchise. The Jets’ offense, which was expected to thrive under Saleh’s leadership, has been one of the league’s worst, and the defense has also regressed after showing promise in previous seasons.
