Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates collapsed unexpectedly during a church service on Sunday, sparking concern among attendees and prompting swift medical intervention.
Gates, 68, was attending a local service when he suddenly became unsteady and collapsed, witnesses reported. Onlookers immediately rushed to assist, and medical personnel were quickly called to the scene. Gates was conscious when paramedics arrived and was transported to a nearby hospital for further evaluation.
A spokesperson for the Gates Foundation later confirmed that Gates is in stable condition and resting comfortably. “Mr. Gates experienced a brief health incident but is expected to make a full recovery,” the statement read. “He is grateful for the quick response of the medical team and the support of those in attendance.”
The nature of the incident has not been disclosed, but sources close to the family have indicated that it was not related to any pre-existing health conditions.
The collapse occurred during a service at a church Gates has attended regularly for several years, according to church officials. The congregation expressed their well-wishes for Gates, who is known for his charitable work and commitment to global health initiatives through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
As one of the world’s most prominent philanthropists, Gates has remained in the public eye following his transition from Microsoft to a life dedicated to addressing global challenges, including climate change and health inequities.
