In a surprising move, Fiji Rugby Union announced today the termination of Vern Cotter’s contract as head coach of the national rugby team. The decision comes in the wake of a series of disappointing performances during the recent international fixtures, including the Rugby World Cup and the Pacific Nations Cup.
Cotter, who took the reins in 2020, was expected to bring his wealth of experience and tactical acumen to elevate Fiji’s standing in international rugby. “I have greatly enjoyed my time in Fiji and have a deep affection for the players and the culture. I wish the team the best of luck moving forward and hope they achieve the success they are capable of,” said Cotter.
