Tennis world No. 1 Jannik Sinner has pulled out of the Paris Masters due to a virus, just a week after pocketing a record-breaking £4.6 million prize in Saudi Arabia.
Sinner, 23, was set to face Ben Shelton or Felix Auger-Aliassime in the French capital but will now be replaced by Arthur Cazaux. In a video message, Sinner apologized to fans, citing his inability to compete due to illness.
This sudden withdrawal comes amid controversy surrounding Sinner’s participation in the Six Kings Slam exhibition event in Saudi Arabia. Sinner claimed his motivation wasn’t monetary, but rival Carlos Alcaraz contradicted him, stating that money played a significant role.
As the tennis world speculates about Sinner’s true motivations and the timing of his illness, one thing is certain: his absence from the Paris Masters has left fans disappointed and eager for his return.
