The Golden State Warriors put on a masterclass performance on Tuesday night, dominating the Boston Celtics 120-105 at TD Garden. Led by Stephen Curry’s 38-point eruption, the Warriors displayed a level of execution and poise that left fans and analysts alike in awe. But despite the convincing win, Curry and head coach Steve Kerr both emphasized that the victory is only a step toward something much bigger.
The win marked the Warriors’ third straight road victory and underscored their continuing dominance in the league. Curry, who was electric throughout, knocked down 7-of-11 three-pointers and dazzled with his trademark ball-handling. However, in his post-game interview, the two-time MVP was quick to temper the excitement, insisting that the team still has plenty of room for improvement. “This is a good win, but we’re not where we need to be yet,” Curry said. “We’ve got to continue to build on this, tighten up our defense, and keep finding ways to be better in crunch-time situations.”
The Warriors’ offensive machine clicked into high gear, with Curry leading the way, but it was also a collective effort. Klay Thompson contributed 23 points, hitting 5-of-9 from deep, while Draymond Green played a pivotal role in the defensive schemes and grabbed 12 rebounds. Even Jordan Poole showed flashes of his explosive scoring ability, adding 18 points off the bench. Golden State’s offensive ball movement and spacing overwhelmed Boston’s defense, who struggled to keep up.
Boston, for its part, was far from passive. Jayson Tatum had 32 points and 9 rebounds, putting forth a valiant effort to keep the Celtics within striking distance. Jaylen Brown also added 25 points and 6 rebounds, but the duo’s efforts weren’t enough to overcome the Warriors’ relentless offense. The Celtics, who were missing key bench players due to injury, seemed disjointed at times and failed to string together enough stops to make a serious run at Golden State.
Golden State’s win was especially significant given the fierce rivalry that has developed between the two teams in recent years, including last season’s NBA Finals, which saw the Warriors reclaim the championship after a hard-fought series. With both teams boasting some of the league’s top talent, Tuesday’s matchup was anticipated to be a heated affair. Instead, the Warriors looked remarkably comfortable in a hostile environment, as Curry’s leadership and steadying presence seemed to calm the entire squad.
But despite the convincing win, Curry remains focused on the bigger picture. “We’re getting to the point where we have to take every game seriously and not let up,” Curry continued. “We’ve got to stay locked in on all aspects of the game, from defense to execution on offense. We can’t afford to get complacent, especially when we know the level we can reach.”
Head coach Steve Kerr echoed Curry’s sentiments, praising his team’s performance while acknowledging the areas in which they still need to improve. “There were a lot of positive takeaways tonight, but we’re always looking for ways to get better. Our defense was solid, but we still had moments where we let up. We know that come playoff time, those lapses can cost us, so that’s something we’ll be focused on as we move forward.”
Despite their victory, Golden State still faces challenges as they look to assert themselves as legitimate title contenders once again. The team has struggled with consistency at times this season, particularly on the defensive end, and has had to contend with the natural wear and tear of a long season. With Curry’s leadership and the continued development of their younger players, however, the Warriors have positioned themselves as a team to watch as the postseason approaches.
In a season already filled with surprises, this win only adds fuel to the fire for the Warriors as they continue their quest for another championship. As Curry said after the game, “It’s just one win. We’ve got to keep pushing, keep evolving, and make sure we’re ready for whatever comes next.”
