Baltimore Ravens rookie cornerback Nate Wiggins was involved in a traffic accident on Interstate 95 in Baltimore when his Lamborghini was cut off by another vehicle, leading to a dangerous chain of events. According to reports, the sudden maneuver by the other driver caused Wiggins’ car to make contact with an Acura SUV. The impact caused Wiggins’ Lamborghini to roll over and come to rest on its side. Fortunately, Wiggins and his passenger, Ravens practice squad cornerback Ryan “Bump” Cooper Jr., both escaped without injury, as did the Acura’s occupants.
Following the accident, Wiggins was diagnosed with a minor neck injury and placed on the team’s injury report, prompting the Ravens to hold him out of their next game as a precaution. While the injury did not appear severe, head coach John Harbaugh and the Ravens medical staff wanted to ensure Wiggins had ample recovery time. Wiggins himself expressed relief and gratitude for the outcome, noting that it was a “scary” experience, especially given the vehicle’s rollover.
Despite the accident, Wiggins has since returned to practice and resumed his role with the team. The Ravens have been mindful about his health, reflecting the team’s proactive approach to player safety. This incident underscores the off-field risks that NFL players sometimes face, as well as the heightened awareness around ensuring the well-being of athletes both on and off the field.
