In a significant diplomatic effort, U.S. President Joe Biden confirmed on Tuesday that his administration is engaging in talks with Turkey, Egypt, and Israel to facilitate a ceasefire in Gaza amid ongoing hostilities. Speaking at a press briefing, Biden underscored the importance of international cooperation in addressing the escalating humanitarian crisis in the region.
“We are actively coordinating with key regional players, including Turkey, Egypt, and Israel, to enforce a durable ceasefire in Gaza,” Biden stated. “The humanitarian situation demands urgent action, and we are working tirelessly to ensure aid reaches those in need.”
The conflict in Gaza has drawn widespread international concern, with mounting casualties and displacement of civilians. The United States has been under growing pressure to mediate a resolution, balancing its longstanding alliance with Israel and the global call for immediate de-escalation.
Turkey and Egypt, key regional stakeholders, have both emphasized the need for restraint and humanitarian relief. Turkey has been vocal in calling for a ceasefire, while Egypt, sharing a border with Gaza, has played a crucial role in facilitating aid deliveries.
Biden also reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting both Israel’s security and the rights of Palestinians. “We believe in the coexistence of two states, where both can live in peace and security. This remains our long-term vision,” he added.
