In a move that has electrified the fanbase, the Atlanta Braves have officially announced that legendary left fielder Marcell Ozuna has signed a new three-year contract, ensuring his continued presence at Truist Park.
The deal, which is reportedly valued at $60 million, solidifies Ozuna’s status as a key player for the Braves as they aim for another championship run.
Ozuna, who returned to the Braves in 2020 after a stellar season with the Miami Marlins, has since become a fan favorite due to his exceptional batting prowess and strong defensive skills.
Last season, he showcased his abilities once again, hitting .305 with 30 home runs and 95 RBIs, contributing significantly to the Braves’ playoff aspirations.
Braves general manager Alex Anthopoulos expressed his enthusiasm about the signing: “We are excited to have Marcell continue to be a part of our organization.
His talent, work ethic, and leadership both on and off the field are invaluable to our team. We believe he is essential to our championship goals moving forward.”
Ozuna, 32, expressed his eagerness to stick with the Braves, stating, “Atlanta feels like home to me.
The fans, the city, and my teammates mean a lot to me. I’m looking forward to more great seasons and hopefully bringing a championship back to the Braves.”
With this new deal, the Braves have made a bold statement about their commitment to retaining key players and competing at the highest level.
As the 2024 season approaches, fans can look forward to seeing Ozuna in left field, continuing to make highlight-reel catches and delivering powerful swings that could propel the Braves deep into the postseason once again.
