The Fijian rugby community is grieving the loss of Ilaitia Tuisese, a celebrated rugby legend whose contributions helped shape the sport’s global identity. Tuisese, a former captain of the Flying Fijians, passed away earlier this month, leaving a profound impact on the rugby world.
Renowned for his leadership during Fiji’s golden rugby era, Tuisese played a pivotal role in the historic victory over the British & Irish Lions in 1977. He also led Fiji’s first national sevens team to a title at the Hong Kong Sevens, an achievement that placed Fijian rugby on the international map.
