Unforgettable : Warriors Shatter NBA Records in Thrilling Loss to Mavericks

It was a historic loss for the Golden State Warriorson Sunday night against the Dallas Mavericks. They dropped an action-packed 143-133 ball game, losing their eighth game in their last 10 contests.

Despite the loss, the Warriors’ highly-scrutinized offense had it going in this one. 133 is the second-most points they have scored during the 2024-25 NBA season. It was also the most points that Golden State has scored in a loss this year.

The firepower that both of these teams had on display helped make NBA history on the night. Perhaps that can serve as a small consolation prize to the Warriors.

The Warriors and Mavericks combined for 48 3-pointers, setting the new NBA record for made threes in a single game.

For the Warriors, it could not have been an enjoyable experience to see who was the leader of the 3-point barrage from the Mavericks. Former Splash Bro Klay Thompson scored 29 points in this one, with that total largely due to his seven triples on the night.

The only player to match Klay’s total from beyond the arc in this game was his old partner in crime: Stephen Curry. The Warriors superstar also connected on seven 3-pointers, albeit at a worse efficiency. Thompson shot 63.6 percent from beyond the arc, while Curry had a more modest 53.8 percent from downtown.

In what almost felt like a celebration of the old core, Draymond Green surprisingly had a big hand in this NBA record as well. The do-it-all forward connected on 5 of 9 3-pointers in his 29 minutes off the bench.

The Warriors will certainly be disappointed with another loss. However, for a team that entered this game with a middle-of-the-pack offensive rating, ranking 16th before the contest, there should be some reassurance in seeing the firepower they can still bring to the table.

Perhaps there will be positive takeaways from this loss that Warriors head coach Steve Kerr can adapt to their next game on Thursday when they play the Memphis Grizzlies.
