Tears Dropping: Six key Ulster players set to miss Munster clash through injury

Ulster have shipped what appears to be significant damage ahead of Friday’s URC interprovincial with Munster with half a dozen key players now injury doubts for the must-win clash.

Skipper Iain Henderson as well as Cormac Izuchukwu, Nick Timoney, Nathan Doak, Werner Kok and Aidan Morgan all picked up knocks in last Saturday’s 40-19 home defeat to Bordeaux-Begles in the Champions Cup.

All six will be monitored throughout the week and this situation will be of major concern to coach Richie Murphy as Ulster bid to avoid a fifth straight defeat in all competitions as the province return to URC action and bid to improve on a lowly 10th place in the league table.

Backs Stewart Moore and Ben Carson, who both missed last weekend’s second round European pool game, are also considered to be doubtful for a return to fitness for the home meeting with Munster.

It remains unclear whether back three players Jacob Stockdale, Ethan McIlroy, Robert Baloucoune or hooker Tom Stewart will be in the frame to return to action this weekend.

On a more upbeat note, John Cooney is back in training following a hamstring issue picked up in the URC loss to Leinster and is available to be selected on Friday evening.
