Maliek Collins has enjoyed a productive first season for the San Francisco 49ers, a campaign in which he has played every game.
But the defensive tackle, who has matched his career-high five sacks through the first 14 games, was a late addition to Wednesday’s injury report for the Week 16 matchup with the Miami Dolphins.
Collins was not listed on Kyle Shanahan’s preliminary pre-practice report, but did not take part in the session due to an illness.
He is one two members of the 49ers’ roster dealing with an illness. Backup offensive lineman Nick Zakelj also missed practice for the same reason.
There is no indication yet as to whether Collins’ illness is one that could keep him out of the game.
Should he miss out, then rookie Evan Anderson would be the favorite to start at defensive tackle next to Jordan Elliott.
The 49ers have been without Pro Bowler Javon Hargrave since Week 3 because of a torn bicep.
