Depeche Mode’s Dave Gahan Admits New Music ‘Not On The Cards’
In a recent interview, Depeche Mode frontman Dave Gahan has revealed that the band has no immediate plans to release new music. The news comes as the iconic electronic group continues to enjoy the success of their latest album, Memento Mori, and its accompanying world tour.
“At the moment, new music is not on the cards,” Gahan admitted, explaining that the band is currently focused on reflecting and recharging after a whirlwind year. “We poured so much into Memento Mori—it was a very emotional and cathartic process, especially after losing Andy [Fletcher]. Right now, it’s about appreciating the moment and letting things settle.”
Depeche Mode’s Memento Mori, released in 2023, marked their first project following the passing of co-founder Andy Fletcher in 2022. The album was met with widespread acclaim, showcasing the band’s ability to navigate loss while maintaining their signature sound.
Despite the lack of immediate plans for new material, Gahan reassured fans that the band is not done creating. “We never really stop thinking about music, but sometimes, you need to let life happen before diving into something new. Who knows what the future holds?”
For now, fans can relive Depeche Mode’s legacy through their extensive catalog and the unforgettable live performances that continue to define their place in music history.
