Legendary Depeche Mode frontman Dave Gahan has revealed that he has been the target of a series of disturbing and threatening phone calls in recent weeks, leaving him and those close to him deeply unsettled. The 61-year-old musician, known for his iconic voice and electrifying stage presence, opened up about the unnerving experience during a recent interview, describing the calls as “intense and frightening.”

According to Gahan, the phone calls began unexpectedly late last month, with an unknown number repeatedly dialing him at odd hours. At first, he ignored them, assuming they were prank calls or simple mistakes, but as they persisted, the messages became darker and more personal.

“At first, I thought it was just a mistake or a fan who somehow got my number,” Gahan explained. “But then the voice started saying things that felt… calculated. Personal. It became clear that this wasn’t just someone messing around—it was someone who knew things they shouldn’t.”

While he did not disclose the exact content of the messages, sources close to the singer suggest that they included direct threats, cryptic warnings, and unsettling references to his past struggles.

Throughout his career, Gahan has been open about his battles with addiction, depression, and near-death experiences, including a 1996 heroin overdose that left him clinically dead for two minutes. Some of the chilling messages reportedly referenced these past struggles, making the situation even more disturbing.

“There were things in those messages that made my blood run cold. Whoever this is, they know too much,” Gahan admitted.

As the calls increased in frequency and intensity, Gahan and his management team decided to involve law enforcement. Investigators are now working to trace the origin of the calls and determine whether they pose a serious security risk to Gahan or his loved ones.

A spokesperson for Depeche Mode confirmed that security measures have been heightened, and the band is working closely with authorities to ensure Gahan’s safety.

“Dave is taking this very seriously. He’s staying cautious, and we’re making sure he’s protected at all times,” a close associate told reporters.

The unsettling ordeal comes at a time when Depeche Mode is still on tour, promoting their latest album, Memento Mori, which was released in 2023 following the tragic passing of bandmate Andy Fletcher.

Despite the disturbing calls, Gahan has no plans to cancel upcoming shows but has acknowledged that the experience has left him feeling on edge.

“I’m not going to let fear control my life. I’ve been through worse. But yeah, it’s shaken me up. I won’t lie about that,” he admitted.

As news of Gahan’s ordeal spreads, fans and fellow musicians have rallied around him, offering words of encouragement and support. Many have taken to social media to express their concern and solidarity, using the hashtag

  • Martin Gore, Depeche Mode’s longtime bandmate, posted on Instagram: “Dave is family. We’ve got his back.”
  • Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) tweeted: “Disturbing to hear about what Dave is going through. Hoping for a swift resolution and safety for him and his family.”
  • Fans across the world have been flooding Depeche Mode’s official pages with messages of support, urging authorities to take swift action.

For now, Gahan remains focused on his music and personal well-being, while law enforcement continues to investigate the origin and intent behind these threatening calls. The singer has expressed hope that the individual responsible will be identified and held accountable soon.

“I’ve faced a lot of darkness in my life, and I’ve always found a way through. This won’t be any different,” Gahan assured.

As the investigation unfolds, fans remain hopeful for answers—and for Dave Gahan’s peace of mind.
