The basketball community is mourning the tragic loss of Latvian player Jānis Timma, who was found deceased in Moscow on December 17, 2024, at the age of 32. Timma, known for his tenure with the Orlando Magic and various European teams, was discovered in an apartment building, with preliminary reports suggesting suicide as the cause of death.
Timma’s career highlights include being drafted by the Memphis Grizzlies in 2013 and later traded to the Orlando Magic. He also represented Latvia in international competitions and had recently signed with Spanish team Monbus Obradoiro.
