In a move that has stunned the NFL world, the Green Bay Packers have officially traded star running back Josh Jacobs back to their AFC rival, the Las Vegas Raiders. The blockbuster deal, announced early this morning, marks Jacobs’ return to the team where he made his name as one of the league’s premier backs before joining Green Bay last season.

A Short but Impactful Stint in Green Bay

Jacobs, who signed with the Packers in 2024 after five seasons with the Raiders, was expected to be a key offensive weapon for quarterback Jordan Love. He put up an impressive 1,329 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns in his lone season with Green Bay, helping them reach the playoffs. However, tensions reportedly grew behind the scenes as Jacobs publicly called for the team to add a No. 1 wide receiver, leading to speculation that he was unhappy with the direction of the offense.

Raiders Welcome Jacobs Back with Open Arms

Las Vegas, which struggled offensively in 2024, sees Jacobs as the missing piece in their backfield. Raiders GM Tom Telesco expressed excitement about bringing him back, stating:

“Josh has always been a Raider at heart. We know what he brings to the table, and we’re thrilled to have him back leading our ground game.”

Packers Fans React to the Stunning Move

The trade has left many Packers fans in shock, with some criticizing the front office for letting go of one of their best offensive weapons. Others, however, see it as a move to clear cap space and focus on developing their young core.

“We appreciate everything Josh did for this team, but we believe this trade positions us better for the future,” said Packers GM Brian Gutekunst.

Trade Details and What’s Next

In return for Jacobs, the Packers will receive a 2025 second-round draft pick and a conditional 2026 fourth-rounder from Las Vegas. The Raiders are expected to immediately insert Jacobs into their starting lineup, hoping he can regain his dominant form.

As both teams prepare for the upcoming season, this trade will undoubtedly be one of the most talked-about moves of the offseason. The Packers and Raiders are not scheduled to meet in the 2025 regular season, but if they do cross paths in the playoffs, this trade could add even more fire to an already intense rivalry.
