The Milwaukee Bucks have dismissed head coach Doc Rivers following a devastating loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. This defeat exacerbated an already challenging season for the Bucks, who have struggled to find consistency under Rivers’ leadership.
Rivers was appointed as head coach in January 2024, succeeding Adrian Griffin despite the team’s strong 30-13 start under Griffin’s tenure. Since taking over, Rivers compiled an 18-25 record with the Bucks. The team’s performance issues have been attributed to a lack of depth beyond star players Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, as well as ongoing injury challenges, including the absence of Khris Middleton due to offseason ankle surgeries.
The Bucks’ management has not yet announced who will assume the role of interim head coach. This marks the third coaching change for Milwaukee since the conclusion of the 2022-23 season, reflecting the organization’s urgency to optimize the team’s performance during Antetokounmpo and Lillard’s prime years.
The Bucks’ next game is scheduled against the Utah Jazz, where they will aim to rebound from their recent setbacks and reestablish themselves as contenders in the Eastern Conference.
