The Cal Poly men’s tennis team had a tough start to its Big West season, suffering a defeat against UC San Diego on the road. The Tritons came out strong, seizing control early and never looking back as they secured a convincing victory over the Mustangs.

UC San Diego set the tone in doubles play, quickly claiming the doubles point to take an early lead. That momentum carried over into singles competition, where the Tritons continued to dominate, winning key matches to put Cal Poly on the back foot. Despite some hard-fought battles, the Mustangs couldn’t turn the tide, ultimately falling short in their conference opener.

Cal Poly will now look to regroup and make adjustments before their next Big West matchup. With a long season ahead, the Mustangs still have plenty of opportunities to bounce back and contend for a strong finish in conference play.
