Dinamo București has suffered a major blow ahead of the season’s run-in, with key midfielder Alexandru Pop ruled out for the remainder of the campaign due to a serious injury setback.
The 25-year-old sustained a recurrence of a previous muscle injury during training earlier this week. Following medical evaluations, club doctors confirmed that Pop will be sidelined for several months, ruling him out of all remaining fixtures this season.
“Unfortunately, Alexandru has suffered a significant setback in his recovery,” the club said in an official statement. “He will undergo a rehabilitation program and further treatment to ensure a full recovery ahead of next season.”
Pop has been a crucial figure in Dinamo’s midfield this year, contributing both defensively and in build-up play. His absence comes as Dinamo fights to secure a strong finish in the Liga I standings.
Head coach Zeljko Kopic expressed disappointment but remained optimistic: “It’s tough losing a player of Pop’s caliber at this stage, but we trust in the depth of our squad and will continue to push forward.”
Pop is expected to return in time for pre-season preparations this summer, provided his recovery progresses without complications.
