Borussia Dortmund have officially announced the signing of English forward Marcus Rashford from Manchester United in a blockbuster $54.6 million deal. The 27-year-old has penned a six-year contract with the Bundesliga giants, marking the end of his long-standing tenure at Old Trafford.

The deal, finalized late Friday evening, brings an end to weeks of speculation surrounding Rashford’s future following a turbulent season with Manchester United. After falling out of favor under manager Erik ten Hag and struggling for consistent form and playing time, Rashford has opted for a fresh start in Germany.

Rashford, who came through United’s academy, made over 380 appearances for the Red Devils and scored 125 goals across all competitions. Despite a dip in performance last season, the England international remains one of the most dynamic attacking talents in Europe, and Dortmund see him as a key figure in their long-term project.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Marcus to Borussia Dortmund,” said Sporting Director Sebastian Kehl. “His pace, versatility, and experience at the top level will significantly strengthen our attack. We believe this is the perfect environment for him to rediscover his best football.”

The six-year deal runs through the summer of 2031, and Rashford is expected to join up with the Dortmund squad for pre-season training in early July. The move also signals Dortmund’s ambition to close the gap on Bayern Munich and reassert themselves as Bundesliga title contenders.

Rashford expressed his excitement in a brief statement: “I’m grateful to Manchester United for everything, but I feel the time is right for a new chapter. Borussia Dortmund is a massive club with incredible fans, and I can’t wait to get started.”

This transfer marks one of the most high-profile Premier League-to-Bundesliga moves in recent years and is set to be a major talking point heading into the 2025–26 season.
