The Miami HEAT have officially announced the acquisition of Italian forward Simone Fontecchio from the Detroit Pistons in a surprise one-for-one trade that sends sharpshooter Duncan Robinson to Detroit.
The deal, confirmed by both franchises, was reportedly finalized due to Miami’s desire to inject fresh defensive energy and versatility on the wing, while the Pistons gain a veteran perimeter scorer to bolster their three-point shooting and floor spacing.
HEAT President Pat Riley commented:
“Fontecchio brings length, toughness, and a two-way mentality that fits our culture. We thank Duncan for everything he gave this franchise.”
Robinson, a key piece in Miami’s deep playoff runs in recent years, now begins a new chapter with a young Detroit roster looking to climb the Eastern Conference ladder.
