ATLANTA BRAVES COMMENTATORS ANNOUNCE RETIREMENT

Atlanta, GA – After a combined 35 years of broadcasting Braves games, iconic commentators Skip Caray and Joe Simpson have announced their retirement, effective immediately.

Caray, 73, and Simpson, 68, have been the voice of the Braves since the late 1990s, bringing their unique blend of humor, expertise, and passion to the airwaves. Their partnership has been a staple of Braves baseball, entertaining generations of fans with their play-by-play and color commentary.

“We’ve had an incredible run,” Caray said in a joint statement. “We’ve been fortunate to be a part of so many memorable moments in Braves history, from the team’s World Series championships to the thrill of watching young stars emerge. It’s time for us to step aside and let the next generation of broadcasters take the reins.”

Simpson added, “We’ve been blessed to have had such an amazing ride. We’ve seen the highs and lows, and through it all, we’ve tried to bring our best game to the broadcast every day. We’re grateful for the support of the Braves organization, our colleagues, and most importantly, our fans.”

The duo’s retirement marks the end of an era for Braves broadcasting. They will be remembered for their iconic calls, including Caray’s famous “Hey, Harry!” phrase during his play-by-play calls.

Braves General Manager Alex Anthopoulos expressed his appreciation for Caray and Simpson’s contributions to the team’s success. “Skip and Joe have been an integral part of our franchise’s history and identity. Their passion, expertise, and dedication to our fans have been unmatched. We’re grateful for their service and wish them all the best in their future endeavors.”

The Braves have announced that they will hold a special ceremony to honor Caray and Simpson during their final game broadcast on October 3rd. Fans are encouraged to attend and celebrate the careers of two beloved broadcasting legends.

Caray and Simpson will be deeply missed by Braves fans everywhere, but their legacy will live on through the countless memories they’ve helped create on the airwaves.

In a bittersweet move, the Braves announced that they will be replacing Caray with his son, Chip Caray, who will join longtime color commentator Paul Mahomes to form a new broadcast duo. The team also announced that Joe Simpson will be replaced by veteran broadcaster Jeff Francoeur.
