Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander will not play in the team’s upcoming game against the Tennessee Titans as he takes time away to deal with the departure of a loved one. The personal matter, which has been kept private, prompted Alexander to step back from football for the time being.
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur expressed full support for Alexander, noting that the organization prioritizes players’ personal well-being during difficult times. “Family comes first, and we’re fully behind Jaire as he deals with this. Our thoughts are with him and his family,” LaFleur stated in a press conference.
The absence of Alexander, one of the premier cornerbacks in the NFL, will be a major setback for the Packers’ defense. His lockdown coverage skills will be missed as the team prepares to face the Titans, led by quarterback Ryan Tannehill and wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.
Green Bay is expected to turn to its backup corners, including Rasul Douglas and Keisean Nixon, to fill the void. The team has not indicated when Alexander might return, but his status will be updated in the coming days.
