Parramatta Eels’ assistant coach Trent Barrett was rushed to the hospital after collapsing in the team’s locker room following their hard-fought victory on Saturday night. The Eels secured a crucial win, edging out their opponents in a thrilling match, but the celebrations were cut short when Barrett suddenly collapsed.

Medical staff on-site acted quickly, providing first aid before Barrett was transported to a nearby hospital for further evaluation. The nature of his collapse remains unclear, though early reports suggest it may have been related to exhaustion or a medical condition.

Head coach Brad Arthur and the Eels’ management have yet to release an official statement on Barrett’s condition, but Arthur briefly addressed the media, expressing concern for his colleague. “Trent is an integral part of our team, and we’re all hoping for a speedy recovery. Right now, our thoughts are with him and his family,” Arthur said.

Barrett, a former NRL star and experienced coach, joined the Eels’ coaching staff in the 2024 season and has played a key role in the team’s performance this year. His collapse has shocked the rugby league community, with messages of support pouring in from players, fans, and other clubs.

More updates are expected as Barrett’s condition is closely monitored.
