Sydney Roosters Prop Spencer Leniu’s new contract with the club will provide him with significant financial benefits.
The former Penrith Panthers prop, who made his New South Wales State of Origin debut this year, has been a standout for the tri-colors, who are now in the top four of the NRL as the finals approach.
Despite missing time due to suspension, Leniu has played a significant part for the Roosters from the bench. The club has reportedly re-signed him to a three-year contract to the end of 2028, according to a report by News Corp.
It is understood that the new contract will pay Leniu almost $800,000 per year, placing him among the highest-paid forwards in the game.
This represents a $200,000 annual increase for the Roosters and Blues prop.
He was already under contract for next year, but by signing him to a long-term agreement early, the Roosters have insured he will not be able to join the open market like every other player out of contract at the end of 2025 on November 1.
It comes as the Roosters prepare to begin life without Jared Waerea-Hargreaves. The New Zealand Test prop will join the English Super League at the end of the year, allowing Leniu and Lindsay Collins to take on new leadership roles.
They will be supported by Terrell May, who is likewise imprisoned until the end of 2026. Collins signed a contract extension until 2028. The club’s forward pack includes Egan Butcher (2025), Nat Butcher (2027), Angus Crichton (2026), Victor Radley (2027), Naufahu Whyte (2026), and Siua Wong (2026), as well as youngster Xavier Va’a (2026).
