Fiji Rugby Top Player Radradra and Two Others Suspended for Breach of Team Code of Conduct

Suva, Fiji, April 20, 2023 – In a shocking move, the Fiji Rugby Union has announced that three top players, including star player Semi Radradra, have been suspended for breach of team code of conduct.

Radradra, 29, is considered one of the best players in the world and has been a key player for the Fiji national team. He was suspended along with two other players, Peceli Nacewa and Leone Nakarawa, for allegedly consuming illegal substances during a team training session.

According to sources, the three players were caught using a substance believed to be a stimulant during a training session at the team’s base in Suva. The exact nature of the substance is not publicly known, but it is believed to be a banned substance under World Rugby regulations.

The suspension comes as a major blow to the Fiji national team, which is preparing for the upcoming Rugby World Cup in France. The team is already dealing with injuries to several key players, and the suspension of three top players will make it even harder for them to prepare for the tournament.

“We are deeply disappointed in the behavior of these three players,” said Fiji Rugby Union CEO, John O’Connor. “We have a zero-tolerance policy for any behavior that breaches our code of conduct. We will not tolerate any behavior that undermines the values and standards of our team.”

The suspension has been met with shock and disappointment by fans and fellow players alike. Radradra has been a key player for Fiji in recent years, and his absence will be felt deeply.

“This is a huge blow to our team,” said Fiji captain, Dominiko Waqaniburotu. “Semi is one of our top players and we will miss him dearly. We hope that he will learn from his mistakes and return to the team soon.”

The Fiji Rugby Union has announced that an internal inquiry will be conducted to determine the full extent of the incident. The suspended players will be eligible to return to the team after serving their suspension.

The suspension has also raised questions about the leadership and discipline within the Fiji national team. Some fans have expressed concerns about whether the team’s leadership is doing enough to maintain discipline and standards within the squad.

“We need to look at the leadership within our team and make sure that we are doing everything we can to maintain discipline and standards,” said former Fiji player, Waisake Sotutu. “We can’t afford to have players breaching our code of conduct and putting our team’s reputation at risk.”
