The New Orleans Saints suffered a devastating 51-27 defeat at the hands of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on October 13, 2024, at the Caesars Superdome. Despite an exciting start, which featured a spectacular punt return touchdown by Rashid Shaheed, the Saints’ defense and special teams couldn’t contain the high-powered Bucs offense.

Quarterback Derek Carr and the offense were unable to mount a consistent attack, while Tampa Bay quarterback Baker Mayfield threw for 594 yards, setting a franchise record.

The Saints’ defense allowed multiple long drives, including several big plays, putting the game out of reach by the second half. Despite some standout performances, including Shaheed’s return touchdown, the team struggled to recover from a series of turnovers and defensive breakdowns.

This loss leaves New Orleans at a concerning 2-4 record, with the team facing an uphill battle in a competitive NFC South division.
