The Athletics Awards have officially announced the dates and venue: from 29 November to 2 December in the prestigious city-state of Monaco. Figures like Marileidy Paulino, Faith Kipyegon, Jakob Ingebrigtsen, and Noah Lyles will vie to outshine their competitors and seize the desired honours.
Last week, World Athletics revealed the nominees for the prestigious 2024 Track Athlete of the Year award. Among the 12 selected athletes are some of the most prominent names in global athletics, each of whom have made a deep-rooted impact throughout the season.
Judging this year will be no simple task, the panel will have to narrow down the impressive field to just two finalists. Every nominee has demonstrated exceptional excellence across various competitions over the year, with the Olympic Games in Paris 2024 and the World Indoor Athletics Championships serving as the backdrop for their memorable performances.
Such a diversity of disciplines represented in this list highlights the richness and depth of talent present in the sport. Six men and six women are part of the modern history of athletics, all of whom will compete for glory at the ceremony next month.
