Naomi Osaka will not compete in the upcoming Billie Jean King Cup Finals in Spain due to back and abdominal injuries. Following a recent MRI, doctors confirmed that Osaka has a bulging disc and ruptured abdominal muscles, conditions she first noticed during the China Open earlier this month. These injuries led her to withdraw from multiple tournaments, including the Japan Open and Pan Pacific Open, marking an early end to her 2024 season.
Osaka has emphasized the difficulty of this decision, especially given her commitment to returning to competitive form after her maternity break earlier this year. Her current plan is to focus on recovery with the goal of being ready for the 2025 Australian Open.
