In a major offseason shakeup, the Atlanta Braves have finalized a blockbuster trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers to acquire fan-favorite outfielder Teoscar Hernández. The deal, valued at $85 million over four years, includes Hernández and a minor league pitcher heading to Atlanta in exchange for second baseman Vaughn Grissom, outfield prospect Jordan Weatherly, and cash considerations.
Hernández, a two-time All-Star and consistent power hitter, brings a potent bat and veteran leadership to the Braves lineup. After slashing .269/.318/.497 with 32 home runs and 95 RBIs in 2023, Hernández will join a Braves outfield already brimming with talent, including Ronald Acuña Jr. and Michael Harris II.
The Dodgers, on the other hand, strengthen their infield depth with the acquisition of Grissom, a versatile young player with significant upside, and bolster their farm system with Weatherly, who is ranked among the top 100 prospects in baseball.
Braves GM Alex Anthopoulos expressed excitement about the trade:
“Teoscar is a proven impact player who fits perfectly into our vision. His ability to hit for power and play solid defense will elevate our lineup even further.”
Dodgers President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman highlighted the team’s focus on long-term flexibility:
“This move allows us to invest in young talent while positioning ourselves to remain competitive. We’re excited about what Vaughn and Jordan bring to the table.”
