Pushcart Thieves Rugby Club has announced the retention of their iconic captain, Jarrad Stack, for the 2025 season, but the agreement hinges on filling a £6,000 budget shortfall through supporter contributions.

Stack, a celebrated figure in Cumbrian Rugby League, initially planned to retire at the end of last season after a stellar career with both Workington and Pushcart since 2017. However, the club persuaded him to lace up his boots for one more year.

Despite agreeing on terms, the club faces financial hurdles in finalizing the deal. They’ve turned to fans via social media, urging 50 supporters to join their 1875 Club at £10 per month to raise the necessary funds.

The club stated: “Jarrad Stack remains a phenomenal player and leader. We’re thrilled to have him for another year, but we need additional support to close this financial gap. Can you help us get our captain over the line?”

In addition to securing Stack, Pushcart Thieves are also in advanced talks to bring in three Super League players on season-long loans as they prepare for the 2025 Championship

campaign.
