In a significant development, Clint Gutherson, the former captain and fullback of the Parramatta Eels, has officially terminated his contract with the club and signed a three-year deal with the St George Illawarra Dragons. This move marks the end of a nine-year tenure with the Eels, during which Gutherson became a central figure in the team’s lineup.

Gutherson’s departure was confirmed by the Eels’ management, who expressed gratitude for his leadership and contributions over the years. The decision to release Gutherson from the final year of his contract was made to facilitate his transition to the Dragons.

The 30-year-old fullback is expected to assume the No. 1 jersey for the Dragons, bringing his experience and leadership to the team. His move to St George Illawarra is anticipated to bolster the Dragons’ roster as they prepare for the upcoming season.

Gutherson’s departure has been met with mixed reactions from fans and teammates. Parramatta Eels halfback Mitchell Moses expressed sadness over the move, acknowledging the end of their eight-year partnership and wishing Gutherson success in his new chapter.

As Gutherson embarks on this new journey with the Dragons, both clubs and their supporters will be keenly observing how this transition impacts the NRL landscape in the forthcoming season.
